Today starts 40 days and 40 nights of giving up things for religious reasons. Obviously there is more to it than that, but unfortunately it has been six years since I left school and so have done no religious education since then (despite my A* in RE!). Anyway, this year I’m giving up three things.

Firstly, I’m giving up crisps and chocolate. Pretty generic things that most people give up. I’ve been on a diet recently and I’ve lost about 9lbs, so I’m hoping this will help for the next 40 days. The longest I’ve gone without chocolate is fourteen days, so this might be difficult. I’m hoping I’ll be able to avoid sweet things or find alternatives.

The third thing I am giving up is Facebook. Now you’re probably thinking ‘you deleted that the other month!’ Well that lasted two weeks. I know, I was bad and went back. This time though, I have gotten Dale to change my password to something I would never ever guess and to deactivate it for me. Now I know I could just reset the password (my brother pointed this out to me) but that hadn’t even occurred to me.

40 days is a long time and I might struggle, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to do it. So far day one hasn’t been too bad. Let’s hope it stays that way!

What are you guys giving up? I saw one woman’s status last night saying she was giving up giving blow jobs, which made me laugh. A lot.

  1. Good! I did the whole facebook thing when I was in college. A little of a selfish reason too, because I thought it would help me concentrate better!! But I did notice that I would still get email notifications from facebook! So make sure you un sync it, unless you can surpass temptation!! šŸ™‚ Best of luck!!
